It was amazing to see giant and small sculptures with realistic details and dramatic emotions. 'In bed' is my favorite sculpture and don't forget to check the video of The Making of In Bed.

A Girl (2006)
a five metre long, hyper-realistic depiction of a newborn. The umbilical cord is still partly attached, and the detail in the scrunched face is impeccable, while the massive yet perfectly scaled body is marked all over with blood from the process of birth -theaustralian.

Two Women (2005)
a work that eschews the stereotypical presentation of elderly women in popular culture by rendering the figures with a critical air, deep wrinkles, osteoporosis, thinning hair and bunched stocking, is much smaller than life, perhaps emphasising the troll-like nature of the women -the australian.

Wild Man (2005)
in which a giant naked man recoils from visual contact with us. It seems like an allegory of civilisation, in which the noble savage is frightened by our evil sophistication. (theage)

Women with Sticks (2008)
Women with Sticks (2008)
shows a naked lady bundling together kindling, which she hugs against her chest, arching her back and deflecting her face to avoid injury. She has a contented workaday expression, but the task would be painful in the nude. So we either see the figure as some Stone Age ancestor or an improving symbol of hardy virtue. (theage)

Wild Man (2000/02)
shows its sleeping subject as a baby, wrapped in bed clothing resembling a bunny rug. It's an image of much pathos. (theage)

Man in a Boat (2002)
a materialist middle-class guy floating on an inflatable mattress is displayed vertically upon a celestial wall. His outstretched arms recall those of Jesus on the cross. (theage)

Mask II (2001/02)
Mask recalls antique colossal statuary, except that unlike the goofy Constantine or Shelley's swaggering Ozymandias - both knocked from their imperial perch - Mueck's cut-out visage accepts the horizontal condition and eternally sleeps. (theage)
